Lunar Vacation

Lunar Vacation 3/26

About halfway through their US & Canada tour, Lunar Vacation took the stage at 7th Street Entry. Since early February, they’ve been on the road supporting their latest album, Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire, their second studio LP, which came out in September 2024. The quintet jumped right into the fittingly named, “Set The Stage,” one of the noisier tracks from their latest record. This was followed by the more straightforward indie rock tune, “Sick.” After these, guitarist, Maggie Geeslin and lead singer, Grace Repasky joked about how the last time the band tried to play at 7th Street was during the tour for their 2021 debut album, Inside Every Fig is a Dead Wasp, but they had to cancel the show because Repasky had a concussion...

Giving no further context, Repasky joyfully added, “We’re excited to be here unconcussed!” with a heavy reverb effect still coming through her mic. After some more good stuff from Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire, including “Tom” and “Erase All the B’s” they moved into some older songs, including their first ever release, the 2017 single, “Anna.” The song beautifully combined rich synths, shimmering guitars, and echoey vocals, achieving the sweet, dreamy indie rock sound I had been hoping to hear going into the evening.

My favorite song of the night was their third-to-last, “Gears” —a banger from their debut LP. Keyboardist Matteo DeLurgio played two keyboards at once, laying down a scorching synth bassline behind an exquisitely lush pad. These beautiful synthesizers paired with Repasky’s ethereal vocals created a sound that was nothing short of elegant. Lunar Vacation finished things off with “Fantasy” —one of the slower, more intimate tunes from their latest album.

“I’d forgotten that the fantasy I held onto so dearly is over / Time to pack it up.”
