Radio K is proud to partner with Berlin—a music bar programming jazz and experimental music in the North Loop of Minneapolis—on Sundays in January! Each night will pair a live act with a Radio K alum DJ.
Tickets for each night are $15 for general admission. Current students may use the promo code STUDENT to purchase $10 tickets. Student IDs must be presented at the door. Berlin is 18+.
January 11th: Material Ensemble & Vogue Memory
Material will perform extended interpretations of songs from their catalogue and meld them into improvisations in collaboration with members of IE and The Pen Test. Between live sets, Vogue Memory will play downtempo, dub configurations, and chillout sounds to get you into a meditative headspace before ending the night with oddball dance music to send you off into the coming week.
January 18th: Tahiti & Sylvia Jennings
This evening, the members of a new project called Tahiti will link their instruments and minds together and improvise longform, driving, prog-rock cloudscapes. For fans of can, SML, and Musical Instrument Digital Interfaces. Then, Sylvia Jennings will return to Berlin for a nostalgic, hedonistic DJ set.
January 25th: Terrell X
This evening, Terrell X (aka Carnage the Executioner) will show you how it’s done. This veteran hip-hop artist has been a Radio K favorite throughout the years, and we’re excited to host him as a headliner at Berlin for the first time. A DJ Arrkay of Radio K will close out the night.
Jio Nocon of Vogue Memory, Sylvia Jennings, Toby Ramaswamy of Tahiti are alumni of Radio K, and DJ Arrkay is currently on staff hosting The Vanguard, Radio K's hip-hop in-studio show. Join us for one or more nights to celebrate all that the local music scene has to offer!
