Kaitlin Cassady 9/4
Twas a stormy Thursday evening, the perfect setting for the album release party of one Kaitlin Cassady. The night was not just a celebration of her second album, but also her first and third(currently unreleased) album. Backing her up on the special evening was Emmy Woods and Lexi Modica.
Lexi Modica began the night by playing a tender collection of their songs. Said songs related cool things like the Northern Lights and cellular reproduction, to love which is very uncool. However they finished up the set with a new song about eating apples, which is so sick that it made up for all their singing about love.
Emmy Woods brought the backwoods to the Cedar Cultural Center with her country twang. Not only did she have excellent sonic variety, but she also had the organ and fiddle take center stage at times. The fiddle especially brought a joy to my heart that made even the slowest songs fun. In fact the songs were so fun, I had to resist(lots of old people) turning that place into a pit.
Kaitlin CasSADy a self described “depressing Spotify playlist” contributor, contributed that but so much more. Revealing a myriad songs from her upcoming second and third albums(as well as a few from her first album), you could feel the pain of loving your family so much it hurts. In fact her music was so sad she had gone through an entire box of tissues, due to the passion and love she felt for those close to her; I too felt her pain. So much so that I got a popcorn kernel lodged in my throat, and could do naught to stifle my cough but weep. Unfortunately for an album release party we only heard 5 or so tracks off of it. Fortunately however she did grace us with her newfound piano playing skills, which you can hear on her second album releasing in… October.
